DANNY THOMPSON
A Bay Area native, Danny Thompson’s musical journey began early under the mentorship of Creek Hart, son of Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart. This early exposure to rhythm set the stage for a career that has spanned decades. Danny refined his craft by studying under the renowned Chuck Brown, mastering his tension release technique, which has shaped his dynamic, fluid drumming style. Over the years, Danny has shared the stage with some of the industry's most respected musicians, including Steve Vai, David Foster, Joe Bonamassa, and Michael McDonald.
A defining chapter in Danny's career was his nine-year tenure with Scott Weiland, the iconic frontman of Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver. During this time, Danny recorded three albums, including Blaster, Weiland’s final album with The Wildabouts. His extensive touring across the US and internationally included appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Carson Daly, and Dick Clark’s New Year’s Eve Ball.
In 2010, Danny joined the legendary Alan Parsons as part of the Alan Parsons Live Project. For over a decade, he has performed in more than seventy countries, contributing to two studio albums and four live releases, playing a crucial role in bringing Parsons' musical vision to life.
Danny's diverse musical background also includes two full-length albums with the bandProtein, signed to Sony Music’s W.O.R.K. group. He has collaborated with drumming legends such as David Garibaldi, Terry Bozzio, Steve Smith, and Brad Hargreaves, further honing his craft and expanding his influence as a drummer.
Now, Danny is proud to be endorsing Omete Cymbals through RL Drums, continuing to push musical boundaries and deliver exceptional performances worldwide.
