RL Drums octobans feature 1/4-inch-thick seamless acrylic shells, 45-degree bearing edges, chrome low-profile hoops, adjustable tom mounts that fit most L-arm stands, and chrome lugs. They are available in sizes ranging from 6"x6" to 6"x28" and 8"x12" to 8"x18". Unlike larger drums, octobans use shell length to change their pitch instead of diameter. This means longer shells produce deeper sounds, while shorter ones deliver sharper and more focused tones.

An amazing discovery

I've had Tama's complete set of octobans back in 1980. I sold the set and always wanted to build another drum kit with octobans again. I stumbled upon RLdrums and noticed they had so many finish options ! Tama only had black shells. And only 6" diameter. I saw that I was able to add 8" diameter shells at limited lengths. So I purchased 2 just to check them out...I LOVE the look and the sound ! I've since put a down payment on more. I'm so happy to find this company. I may even add 6" octobans to my setup as well. I bought the clear finish, but they have many clear versions...red, blue, green, amber, etc. I'm truly pleased !! Thank you RL !!
